Michael Lorenzo-Vera made five birdies in six holes Friday to shoot a second-round 65 and take a two-shot lead at the South African Open.
Playing in his first tournament since October because of a wrist injury, Lorenzo-Vera reached a halfway total of 12-under 132 at the par-72 Pearl Valley Golf Estates. He leads a group of four players, including Ernie Els, at the event co-sanctioned by the European Tour and the Sunshine Tour.
"I was just coming here to find some new feelings, and I found some good ones," Lorenzo-Vera said.
