WA: Rescued climber speaks to wife

The Australian climber rescued from New Zealand's treacherous Mount Cook this morning
has spoken briefly to his wife in Perth.

An alpine team rescued 42-year-old MILES VINAR uninjured .. but a search for his 43-year-old
brother .. Dr MARK VINAR .. has been called off.

At the family's Perth home this afternoon .. a male relative says the family are feeling
pretty miserable.

He says Dr VINAR has fallen into a crevasse and can't be recovered .. although while
Mr VINAR is ill .. he's recovering from the ordeal and has had a brief conversation with
his wife.
